Corset

I am reposting since I wasn't logged in before, oooops! I really do love this corset. I have made a plain one in black to go with a skirt that I made. I fits and looks great. I love the color of this one, the indigo color is beautiful, set off by the lovely beading. I would love to have an original from Alabama. Susan

corset

I love this corset. The colors in this corset are beautiful; I love the denim color and the beautiful red flowers. I have made a corset in black from the book and it fits like a dream. The design is very flattering. I would love to have an original. Susan

it's in the details! As always the details from stitching to the beading are glorious! keep the inspiration coming! BMT now i'm actually signed in :)

Corset

I love the lines of this corset, so feminine. I also love the contrast between the soft, almost faded stencil and the bold red bead embellishments. And, as always, I love that it is handmade right here in Alabama! (sent email about trying to sign in: User name is Joyful)

contrast, color, design, detail

The contrast of the red beaded flowers with the stenciled flowers really make this piece. The design and handmade detail of this garment are lovely.

The divine is in the details. Slow beautiful...

I call this wonder Alabama

I really do. It lifts like you wouldn't believe. I have made two versions of this corset top but it would be so very lovely to own one that was made by the women of Alabama who admire so very much. I had to repost th comment because I did not log in with my registered account.

Eyes Wide Open

Yesterday, logging onto this web site for the first time ever (thanks to the article in Country Living) I found out that I still have Dreams. This corset, the indigo, the stencil, the hint of red, the beads; what is NOT 'me'? Except, it's the me I see that I've always wanted to be. It's the me that I remembered wanting to be when looking at every single item on this terrific web site. And the me, at almost-53, who realized it's not too late. Thank you. Corset or no corset, I thank you.

Project #7

Restless in a Nashville winter snowstorm, Dreaming of an Alabama Chanin summer, In a Songbirds Denim Corset. Perfectly faded, perfectly fit, perfectly timeless, Like an old county song, Chosen again and again for years to come. Thank you for your wonderful books and projects, Phyllis Harris

I love the contrast between the rich, precisely placed beading and the more organic beauty and rawness of the rest of the piece. Glorious!

Love the indigo fabric. It

Love the indigo fabric. It reminds me of the denim that is such a part of this country. I do my part by wearing jeans every day. I am so looking forward to getting my hands on your new book!

Project #7

Great clothing allows movement. This flexible corset is sexy and sensual, at home in almost any situation- from barn to bar... in either France or America.

Hand stitched clothing is special. Each creator's signature is manifested through its unique stitches...a true heirloom.

It would be an honor to wear and care for project #7.

it's all about the colors

In this particular garment, I love the colors. The indigo is my favorite and pairing it with the red and silver is brilliant. On the corset project overall, I love that it uses such soft materials for something that is usually so structured and...not soft :)

Thank you for another contest

I made the previous entry, just forgot to sign in. I am looking forward to your book. Congratulations, I hope you take a nice break and enjoy your family. You deserve it!

Thank you for another contest

Thank you for another contest and another chance to make something so beautiful out of such a humble fabric. Each item of I have of yours, the ones I've made myself and those bought from you brings such pride and many compliments. Isn't it fun to think that you have sent a small part of Alabama to so many parts of the world with your clothes.

I love the stitches. I've

I love the stitches. I've always been drawn to any item that shows the stitches - the hand of the person who has invested their time in a handmade garment. That pop of red beads just further emphasized the makers hand. I'm not sure if I'd fit an extra small corset, but if in doubt, I would frame this and hang it on my wall (wouldn't be the first time I hung a garment as art)!

I love the contrast of the

I love the contrast of the red bugle beads against the faded indigo...great color combo. Loribeth

great corset contest

Love the variegated blue & the bright sexy red. Will be great with boots & denim.

Slow Craft in a fast world

This piece has a sexy-yet-laid-back feel that as a woman I appreciate. As a middle school art teacher and fellow craffter I love the investment of time and skill it took to make this piece. I teach my students to sew, embroider, weave and macrame. All the while they are also learning perseverence and the joy of practice. There is nothing like knowing your own hands can create useful and beautiful objects. I have made a few from your book myself. It is an affirmation to me, while in this video game and texting world my students love to slow down and weave a scarf or sew a pillow...empowerment and pride are what is all about. We just made 135 hand sewn and embroidered sock dolls that will end up at an orphanage in Honduras next week! Heres to hand made goods and to the lessons they teach. If I will this piece I will not only give it a good home, I will bring it in to show my kids!

Time and History

I love the natural feel of the fabric you use and the incredibly deep yet vibrant colors. My favorite part of any Alabama Project is knowing the time that goes into it. I have tried to make projects from the book and I love the feeling of pride I get in finishing one! It is an honor to wear anything that was made with such care and love and pride. Any handmade garment has a culture, or history to it, it becomes something to keep forever. It's more than just a shirt, it is a work of art, an heirloom.

PROJECT #7

Folk Art. Primary colors. An after thought lit with a silver glow. The importance of an exchange with beauty in our everyday lives. To live in the Art. Wear your Art. Creative like a child. Allowing yourself to enjoy a compliment. Celebrate the simple. Quality not quantity. Letting time win. Strong bonds take longer to make. Hard to break. Blood red says come to me. Flowers say slow down or you"ll miss me. Rich with the blues. Like water. Which heals. Raised petals come to life. Wants to be touched. Makes us smile. The Canvas is fabric. Brush strokes are thread. A maze of glass. Color in the midst of this grey Winter. A hint to a secret. By which only the wearer of this art knows. But if you'll sit for tea. Under the magnolia's. She will amaze you. In her handmade clothes. That each tells the stories of her life.

Indigo infatuation and color love.

I love the softness of the indigo. I have an infatuation with indigo and try to set up a vat each summer in the yard for quilting but to varying degrees of success. I love the magic of the process. This fabric is just lovely. I would not have thought of adding red beads. The color pops! This is such a special garment.

Project 7

I love the combination of colors, shades and textures.

Love that stencil and that

Love that stencil and that red, that red!

Alabama Soul

Prints left in the red earth, reflect the gray clouds, in an Alabama sky. Forms to your body, feeds your soul and becomes more an impression of you each time its worn.

the color, I love the color..and

the mix of tradition and passion in the design. In all the Chanin designs. The soft indigo and silver with beaded red accents is just lovely. I love, love love it! This is a beautiful project. I do silk painting, and I am just crazy about these clothes and your website, your principles in design and living, and especially the fact that you are in my home state. I have been gone too long. We hope to be back soon, and finding y'all has just made my day. Hooray!

In honor of Valentine's Day.......

The flower is red, The fabric is blue, The stencil is beautiful and the stitching is too! Love, love, love it!

Corset Project

I love how versatile this pattern is! I have made the corset three times, and each one is unique and fabulous for different reasons. The first time I made a corset, I followed the project notes from the book closely, using all of the ascribed techniques. The second time, I worked with the pattern to create a longer shirt for a party. The last, and most recent, is the corset that makes me laugh, as I used Harley Davidson T-Shirts with eagles and motorcycles... along with shocking red thread. They're comfortable and fun to wear, which is an added bonus to how beautiful they look!

the pattern

Ever since I first saw the Angie's Fall pattern, I've loved it. It reminds me of lotus flowers. The indigo fabric and the beads are pretty sweet too. Looking forward to the new book!

Haiku!

I have a visceral reaction to all of the clothes by Natalie and the incredible artisans. All of it is poetry! So I've channeled my inner third-grader and written a Haiku explaining what I love about the corset. :-) Juxtaposition/ couture organic denim/ perfect for our Spring

corset love

thanks for the contest opportunity. what I love about the corset is the balance of modern and classic, which I'm finding to be a theme of many things I love lately: not too modern, not too old-fashioned, but equally respectful of both.

The Pop of Red

in the beads, the differing textures, the versatility, of course, I love everything you guys do. Someday, a workshop,

It proves that handmade can

It proves that handmade can be sexy. It manages to be both pretty and tough. It's all my favorite colors. And, as I just moved from New Orleans to upstate New York, I need cheering up...

I love the fact that this is

I love the fact that this is a timeless fabric and design. This is something that reminds me of clothes that I wore as a young woman, would also love wearing now as an 'older' woman, and it is a design that my daughter could wear as well. I also love the fact that this design makes me miss having the time to sew. All of your designs are like a fantasy wish book of things that I wish that I had the time to create.

Denim & Beads & Threads, oh my!

I love the beauty of the hand stitching. I love the way the stitching weaves it's way through the much "loved" and perfectly comfortable denim and is accented by the pops of red beads. I love the silvery shadows. I love the way simplicity has become art. And I love that if I win, I can use it in two ways...wear it as long as I am small enough, then hang it on the wall to admire like the simple art it is.

my mistake...and I can be reached at slpstanley@yahoo.com...sorry...

My favorite thing about this piece

is the depth of color! I have always loved deep red with gently faded indigo, and the pale stencil is just lovely. I'd adore this piece in my wardrobe, as would anyone lucky enough to have it! Thanks so much for all the inspiration. I love the books!

My favorite part of this

My favorite part of this project is the color. I love the smoky blue and silver with just the hint of bright red. It feels like a winter sunset.

This corset looks as comfy as

This corset looks as comfy as a pair of old blue jeans and that is Natalie's design genius. A comfortable corset - brilliant!

Project #7

I love the raw femininity of the boldly stitched curved lines that radiate up and outwards.... the sweet cling of the indigo blue cotton knit with the subtle metallic silver accents, topped with brightly singing red beads. The inside label makes me swoon. Without using words, the individual processes and layers of the corset create a complex story.

What I love most?

Everything!!! Ok, but especially how the sexy splash of red beading transforms it from a simply beautiful article of clothing to a simply stunning little piece of art.

Oops

That "everything" was mine. Helps to sign in, doesn't it? ;-)

I LOVE

the shape, it hugs curves, the textures, they cuddle together, and the colors. But then I love everything you all come up with. Someday, I'll get to do a workshop.

What I love most about this garment...

is the multiple textures of the fabric, the thread, the beads... it has such depth. Absolutely beautiful.

Juxtaposition

I love the juxtaposition between - the softness of the cotton and the rigidness of the beads. -the vibrant red against the soft blue -the organic stenciled floral design against the beaded floral design -the way you could dress this corset top up or wear it casually
