In 2008, Alabama Chanin moved operations from a three-bedroom house at Lovelace Crossroads on the outskirts of Florence, Alabama, to a former textile manufacturing facility built in 1982 in the local industrial park. The Factory, as the space is called, has become not only home to the Alabama Chanin design and production studio but also to workshops, events, and dinners. The space is filled with books, music, the hum of making, and more recently, machines for the new A. Chanin line. In 2013, Alabama Chanin began an expansion of The Factory that includes a new event space and full-service café, and houses workshop headquarters and the flagship store.
Our community was, for generations, home to textile mills that employed an incredible number of area residents. This industrial building, The Factory, where we work and spend hours of our lives has seen thousands of workers pass through the doors over the years; it has heard the hum of machines running and the voices and laughter of employees passing the day away. This building is part of Alabama Chanin’s history, but, more importantly, it is part of our community’s history—a symbol of economic boom, hard times, and community rebuilding.

Here is what we have going on this week, Monday, August 18 – Friday, August 22:
Beginning Tuesday, we will highlight some of our all-time favorite wardrobe essentials. Ranging from basic layering staples to fully embellished statement pieces, these items are easily integrated into any wardrobe—perfect for transitioning to cooler weather.
Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
Stop by any weekday at 2:00pm for a guided tour of our space, including The Factory, the Alabama Chanin production and design studio, and Building 14.
Join us for lunch at The Factory Café this week. Start with one of our new appetizers—like our blue cheese tartine—and continue the experience with one of our signature dishes like our Flatbread of the Day.
Also, don’t forget to take a look in our new cooler—fully stocked with homemade ready-to-go items like egg salad, pimento cheese, and our roasted tomato soup.
